The Salon & Spa at Waterford Place is home to American Cancer Society® programs that are hosted in our unique salon including monthly sessions of Look Good Feel Better® and the area’s largest Wig Boutique. Also available to those diagnosed with cancer are massages and oncology facials by licensed providers.

Mondays, January 15, February 19 & March 19 • 2 to 4 p.m.
Led by Jenny Burns, Licensed Cosmetologist and Medical Hair Loss Specialist and Karen Wake, Licensed Esthetician

Designed to improve self-image, appearance and quality of life, this program is offered to any woman undergoing treatment for cancer. Beauty techniques are taught to help cope with the temporary appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. To register please call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345.

ALAS on Wheels: The Mobile Salon™

Wednesday, February 21 • 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

ALAS-WINGS provides prosthetic bras, wigs and prostheses at no cost to breast cancer patients with limited financial resources. Products are fitted by professionals. To register for this program, contact Mariana Martinez at 630-898-6493.

American Cancer SocietySalon Services and Wig Boutique

Comprehensive salon services are available to those who have or will experience hair loss due to cancer treatments. Services provided include clipper cutting prior to hair loss, wig fitting and assistance with shaping and styling hair as it grows back in. Complementary wigs are provided through a partnership with the American Cancer Society.

Reflexology

The practice of Reflexology involves massaging or applying pressure to various acupressure points on the body for the purpose of stress reduction and supporting overall health.*Priority in scheduling is given to those who are in active treatment or who have a metastatic diagnosis.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is an approach to massage therapy based in both compassion and specialized massage treatments designed to decrease treatment related side effects, reduce stress and pain, and improve perceived quality of life. *Priority in scheduling is given to those who are in active treatment or who have a metastatic diagnosis.

Caregiver Massage

Self-care and stress relief is just as important for caregivers as it is for patients. Take time to restore, rejuvenate and unwind with a gentle massage. *Priority in scheduling is given to those who are currently caring for a person in active treatment or who has a metastatic diagnosis.

Oncology Facials

Cancer treatments may leave the skin dry, sensitive and lacking proper nutrients. Because of the changes in the epidermis, traditional skin care  methods and products can sometimes do more harm than good. When skin is compromised, it needs specific products that are safe and gentle to bring it back to health without adding additional strain or discomfort. Geralyn will assess your skin care needs and provide the appropriate treatment to help restore and maintain healthy skin. *Priority in scheduling is given to those who are in active treatment or who have a metastatic diagnosis.
