Rush-Copley's Physical Rehabilitation Center believes in turning disabilities into possibilities.

Our Physical Rehabilitation Center brings together the most advanced technologies, current knowledge and dedicated, experienced professionals to improve the quality of life for our patients. From comprehensive inpatient physical rehabilitation to convenient outpatient services, our continuum of care focuses on restoring skills and helping patients return to their normal routines.

At the Rush-Copley Physical Rehabilitation Center, our results are fueled by our patient-centered, customized approach to treatment where the patient is the most important member of the rehab care team. Our highly-skilled, interdisciplinary physical rehabilitation team provides complete care--from medical treatment for a current illness to therapeutic treatment--designed to restore patients to improved function and wellness.

Referral Process

A referral is required for admission to the Rehabilitation Program at Rush-Copley.  If you or a loved one would like to seek admission, please call the admission coordinator at 630-898-6481 or 630-499-4732.

Medical professionals referring a patient will be asked send the following information via fax to 630-978-6846:

  • face sheet
  • history and physical
  • physician progress notes and orders
  • therapy notes
  • nursing notes
  • current laboratory results
  • current list of medications
  • diagnostic test results



This information is important when considering the need of services.  The admission coordinator will review the information with Dennis Keane, M.D., medical director.  We will then call you to discuss admission or other alternatives.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

Rush-Copley is home to the comprehensive Physical Rehabilitation Center, a specialized care area with 12 private rooms for patients needing inpatient rehabilitation. A custom designed care plan is created for each patient by the multidisciplinary team of rehab specialists, each of whom maintains professional excellence by regularly attending advanced specialty courses and continuing education seminars. Strategies for improvement are based on the patient's individual ability and goals.  Care is managed closely by a rehabilitation physician. 

Admission criteria:

  • Physician order and referral is needed.
  • Patient must be neurologically and medically stable.
  • Patient must need 2 disciplines to qualify for in-patient rehab area - physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology.
  • Patient is able to tolerate three hours of combined therapies per day.
  • Patient is cognitively alert.
  • Functional improvement of patient's condition is anticipated in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Patient needs and has the potential to benefit from comprehensive, individualized and interdisciplinary rehabilitation services.

Outpatient Therapy Services

The Rush-Copley Outpatient Rehabilitation Therapy Center offers many options for your therapy needs. Our experienced staff will guide you through an individualized program to help you meet your goals. Our staff of licensed therapists will be there for you.

Programs are based on you and your personal goals. A therapist will evaluate your injury or concern and develop a plan to help you live and work independently again. This may include development and instruction in an individualized home program.

By choosing Rush-Copley’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Therapy Center, you’ll have access to Rush-Copley Healthplex, a 166,000 square foot hospital-based fitness center. You have the opportunity to become a member at a discounted therapeutic rate. Our staff will help you learn how to use the Healthplex’s specialized equipment and prepare a maintenance program just for you.
