Achieving a healthy weight may seem impossible.  And, if you're like many people you have tried fad diets but didn't see results.  That's why Rush Copley Medical Group and Rush Copley Healthplex have teamed up to create a healthy weight lifestyle program where "YouFIT."

This program is different because it focuses on the importance of combining physical activity and nutritional guidance along with information about the "science" of achieving a healthy weight that's right for you.  YouFIT also provides tools and techniques to help remove barriers to success, all leading toward new attitudes and behaviors that will transform you.

YouFIT offers participants exceptional value. Priced separately, the program components including dietitian guidance, personal training and a Healthplex membership are more than $1,500.

Program Details

Participants learn from a variety of experts including Rush Copley physicians, Healthplex personal trainers and registered dietitians.  The 12-week program includes:

  • An individual Rush Copley Healthplex 12-week membership
  • Personal trainer
  • Registered dietitian
  • Nutrition workbook
  • Weekly fitness challenges

Introductory session
This group session includes presentations from Rush Copley Medical Group physicians, a registered dietitian and a certified personal trainer. It will provide an overview of the program and  give you tools to help you achieve a successful transformation with the YouFIT program. Participation and progress shared with participant's physician as permitted.

Two individual sessions
Individual sessions will take place during the first week of the program and includes a one-on-one nutrition evaluation with a registered dietitian, and fitness assessment with a personal trainer. Assessments include personal habits, health concerns, weigh in, measurements and goal setting.

Group Nutrition education sessions
Tuesdays during weeks 2-7

Group Fitness sessions
Tuesdays during weeks 8-12, Saturdays during weeks 2-12

YouFIT is $175 for members of Rush Copley (only $7.30 per class) and $275 for non members (only $11.46 per class).

Jay Shiff participated in YouFIT to help conquer a hike with his son’s boy scout trip to Philmont Ranch in New Mexico. The trip involved hiking more than 80 miles during 10 days in the backcountry of New Mexico with elevations between 6,000 to 12,500 feet above sea level. He would need to be able to carry anywhere between 40 to 50 pounds including water, food, personal and crew camping gear in his  backpack. Jay knew he was not in a physical condition to be able to be successful on the trip and joined YouFIT at Rush Copley Healthplex in order to help meet this goals.

Jay's goals for his YouFIT experience were:

  • Lose a minimum of 10 pounds to meet the height/weight requirement to participate in the trip.
  • Learn how to properly use the equipment and feel comfortable in the  Healthplex as he had not been in to the gym in more than 20 years.
  • Build endurance and muscles to be able handle the weight and distance requirements for the hike.

Jay found the YouFIT program helped him to meet and even exceed these goals.

"The weekly nutritional information, physical fitness program, the enthusiasm and positive attitude of the trainer and dietitian and maintaining the daily calorie goal with the program made it possible for my son and I to have an exciting, successful and memorable trip,” said Jay. “I can tell you the trip wasn't more difficult than I thought but it was not easier either, and without participating in the YouFIT program I would not have been able to complete the trip.”

Jay lost 18 pounds during the program and 12 more after his session of YouFIT for total loss of 30 pounds.
