Rush Copley Resumes Elective Procedures and Enhances Safe Environment Measures


Aurora, IL – Rush Copley’s priority is the health and safety of patients, staff and the community. Under the Illinois Department of Public Health’s guidance, the medical center has resumed elective surgeries and procedures for patients.

Patients can be assured that Rush Copley locations – the hospital, emergency rooms, physician offices and Rush Convenient Care locations – have implemented enhanced safety measures to minimize the exposure risks related to COVID-19 for patients and staff.

Enhanced Safety Measures

Among the enhanced safety measures patients can expect at Rush Copley locations include:

Dedicated COVID-19 Units: There are designated hospital units for COVID-positive patients with dedicated staff. All other patients will be in separate areas of the hospital with their own care teams.

Everyone Wears a Mask: As an added measure of protection, we require all patients, visitors and staff to wear a face covering or mask while at any Rush Copley location to guard against transmission of COVID-19. If a patient does not have a mask, we will provide one as they enter our facility.

Forward Triaging: All patients will be assessed for COVID-19 symptoms when scheduling and then again before entering Rush Copley facilities and offices.

Guest Restrictions: No visitors will be allowed to accompany patients (only very few exceptions) in order to limit the amount of people coming into the office.

Temperature Monitoring: All patients and staff will have their temperature taken prior to entering any Rush Copley facility or office.

Safe Waiting Rooms: To promote social distancing, revised seating and floor markers have been added to waiting rooms.

Enhanced Cleaning: Enhanced and an increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of all high touch areas.

Capacity Monitoring: Provider schedules have been adjusted to limit the number of patients in each office at any given time.

Skip the Waiting Room: Many Rush Copley Medical Group offices now offer the option of skipping the waiting room by allowing patients to check in on their phones via MyRushApp when they arrive and wait in their cars until it’s time for their visit.

Video Visits: Video visits provide an easy, secure way for patients to limit travel and contact while connecting with a health care provider. During a video visit, patients can talk to a provider via video chat, receive a diagnosis on the call and get a treatment plan.

Care Rated “A” for Safety

Patients can feel confident in receiving safe care at Rush Copley. The medical center is one of only 32 hospitals in the country to earn the top “A” safety grade in every score release since The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit watchdog organization, began rating hospitals on safety in 2012.
