Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center November and December Programs

(Aurora, IL)  Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center is pleased to offer the following programs for those impacted by cancer.  Programs are free and are held at Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center, 1310 Waterford Drive, Aurora. Shine a Light on Lung Cancer
Monday, November 14, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Rush Copley Medical Group oncologist, Dr. Ho Myong, will discuss the benefits of lung cancer screening and the Kane County Health Department will present on radon exposure

Handling the Holidays After Loss
Wednesday, November 16, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

During the holiday season, the world seems filled with joy, however for those who are grieving, the world may not seem so festive. As a result of a loved one's death, your life has changed and the holidays will be different. Join us to talk about your grief journey and options for coping.

Taste new foods and try recipes in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Nutrition is an important component of care both during and post treatment. Recipe preparation and nutrition topics will be explored as the dish is prepared and sampled. Recipes prepared may contain common food allergens.

Presents for Patients

Come for an evening of gift making for the person in your life who has cancer. Using safe and natural ingredients and materials, caregivers and friends will be offered the opportunity to choose from several different gift items to create, wrap and take home to give their loved one.

Dinner and Improv
Tuesday, November 29 • 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Families are invited to gather for a practical and nutritious cooking demonstration that involves every member of the household, big and small. Following a shared meal, participants will be invited to engage in a guided creative arts activity that offers the opportunity for laughter, connection and personal expression.

Family Monthly Gathering: “Making a Memory” — Holiday Art Event
Tuesday, December 6 • 6 to 8 p.m.

The holidays are a special time with special memories. Families will work together to create a memory and a family keepsake to treasure with an emphasis on fun and connection. We will also share a light meal together. If you have food allergies or specific dietary restrictions, please let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
