It’s a Girl!
Rush Copley Delivers 50,000th Baby

Aurora, IL – Since 1995, Rush Copley has delivered special miracles at its Ogden Avenue campus.  On Monday, August 12 at 5:51 p.m., the hospital delivered its 50,000th baby.

Brooklyn Victoria Walk was born to parents Melanie and Doug Walk and big sister Sophia of Oswego, Illinois.  Brooklyn weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 ¾ inches in length.  The baby was delivered by Dr. Deslyn Browne.  The Walk's extended family has delivered eight babies in total at Rush-Copley.

“We are thrilled to reach the 50,000th delivery at the Ogden Avenue campus,” said Karen Werrbach, Director of Women’s Health at Rush-Copley.  “It’s a special honor to be part of the Walk family’s experience as they welcome their new baby girl.”

The hospital celebrated the 50,000th baby with gifts including baby clothes, blankets, toys and a new car seat.  The hospital also partnered with Old Second Bank to start the baby’s first savings account.  Both Rush Copley and Old Second contributed to the account.

Rush Copley moved to its Ogden Avenue campus on November 18, 1995.  The first baby born at the campus, Selena Carrillo, is a 17-year-old senior at East Aurora High School with plans to attend University of Nevada – Las Vegas next year to study criminology.

Rush-Copley’s board-certified obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists and midwives deliver more babies in the Fox Valley area than any other hospital.  Equipped with the latest technology, these highly experienced providers are prepared for everything from the most routine deliveries to high-risk pregnancies needing the care of in Rush-Copley’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Rush Copley was the first hospital in the country to receive the Gold Seal of ApprovalTM by the Joint Commission for Normal Delivery and Respiratory Distress Syndrome in the Preterm infant.
