Prenatal Care

Rush-Copley OB/GYNE Associates specializes in normal obstetrical care and high-risk pregnancies. Our patients deliver at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.
During the course of your pregnancy our nurses will discuss important health information with you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns that you might have. Our clinical assistants will prepare for your appointment with the physician by asking pertinent questions, obtaining your urine specimen and checking your weight and blood pressure.
The first prenatal visit includes a thorough history, physical exam, blood tests and other appropriate testing. The frequency of your visits depends on the progress of your pregnancy and your individual needs. Usually patients are seen about once a month until 28 weeks of pregnancy, then every two weeks until 36 weeks of pregnancy, then every two weeks until 36 weeks of pregnancy, then weekly until the baby is born. At each visit your blood pressure is checked, your urine is checked for protein and sugar, your baby's growth is measured and his/her heartbeat is checked. Certain lab tests are done at different stages of the pregnancy. Your caregiver will review your test results, recommend further testing if necessary and discuss the progress of the pregnancy with you.
