Patient Services

Rush-Copley Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Consultants offers a full range of cardiovascular and thoracic services including:

Cardiovascular surgery including CABG, valve replacement (aortic and mitral), atrial fib/modified maze procedure and mitral valve repair

Coronary Bypass Surgery
Using less invasive approaches to heart operations whenever possible. “Beating heart” procedures, for example, avoid using a heart-lung machine and are done through standard or small incisions.

Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement Surgery
When the patient’s valve does not close properly, surgeons attach a small cloth hoop around the mitral valve, which reinforces the valve tissue and supports the closing action and restores effective pumping of the heart.

Modified MAZE
Used in treating atrial fibrillation, the MAZE procedure creates a “maze” of scars in the atrium, resulting in a normal rhythm of the heart in 80% of patients.

Stent Grafting
For this common circulation problem, stent grafting is used to open narrowed or clogged arteries that carry blood to the legs or arms. Aortic stent grafting is also used to implant a device that repairs abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Pacemaker Implantation and Monitoring
Pacemakers are implanted in a patient’s chest when a defect, blockage, or age-induced slowing of electrical impulses cause the heart to beat too slowly or fail to speed up during activity. Recently, special pacemakers have been developed for patients with congestive heart failure.

Vascular surgery

Thoracic surgery including video assisted thorocoscopy and benign lung tumor removal

Oncologic surgery

Great vessel surgery
