Artificial Disc Replacement
Dr. Geisler has served as one of the 15 principal investigators across the country and the only in the midwest for a four-year clinical trial. The Charite disc is the first artificial disc that surgeons can put in place of the cushions between the bones of the lower spine, relieving and preserving flexibility. This disc offers a faster recovery and less painful alternative to spinal fusion.
In additioning to using the disc in surgeries at Rush-Copley Medical Center, Dr. Geisler is also training other neurosurgeons on this technique.
The Charite disc is FDA approved.
