Do you have the HPV vaccine?
Yes. The vaccine called Gardasil is available for girls between the ages of 9 and 26. It is given as a series of 3 vaccines, at 0, 2 and 6 months and should be administered before onset of sexual activity, but females who are sexually active should still be vaccinated. The vaccine costs $170 per dose plus an administration fee. As with all vaccines, check with your insurance about coverage. Also, ask about our cash pay discount.

Do you have the shingles vaccine?
Yes, the shingles vaccine called Zostavax is available upon request. When making your appointment, please let us know your are interested in having the vaccination. The vaccine has been shown to signficantly reduce the risk of developing shingles. It is recommended for those 60 years of age and older. It it indicated for the prevention of shingles, not the treatment of shingles.

What is a D.O.?
If you're like most people, you're not quite sure what a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) is. Many people think that an osteopathic physician is a bone or back specialist. Actually, D.O.'s are licensed physicians in all 50 states and many foreign countries to practice all forms of medicine and surgery. From family practice to cardiovascular surgery, D.O.'s are represented in every medical specialty. Osteopathic doctors deliver babies and prescribe medicine in the best equipped hospitals and clinics in the world, including the U.S. government and military medical corps. And they do more; they are specially trained to perform osteopathic manipulations; a technique by which D.O.'s can diagnose and treat disorders of the body. Treatment consists of physically correcting the body structure. The body's circulatory systems (e.g. blood, lymph, air and nerve impulse) are thereby improved, thus helping the body to heal itself. Osteopathic physicians treat patients in a special way. They look at the whole person not just the sick part, such as your arm or leg. They are concerned about all of you. The D.O. knows how one part of your body affects other parts. That's why D.O.'s are family doctors … caring for the whole person.
