To be elected a Fellow, doctors must show that they are always growing and learning. They may show this through activities such as teaching, hospital appointments, public service, continuing education, publishing scientific articiles and advanced training. They must also be recommended by other ACP Fellows who must attest to their character, ethics, and excellence in professional medical activities.

The FAAP designation after a pediatrician's name stands for Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Pediatricians who maintain their FAAP designation have obtained board certification in pediatrics and made an ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and advocacy for children.

What does Fellowship tell you about your doctor?
Fellowship tells you that your doctors has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or another board acceptable to ACP. Certification requires having satisfactorily competed a minimum of 3 years approved postgraduate training in internal medicine and passage of a rigorous 2-day examination. (This certification is sometimes waived because of other outstanding qualifications.); been recognized by other internists for excellence and skill in medical practice, teaching and research; demonstrated continuing scholarship and professional accomplishments.

Dr. Khan specializes in internal medicine and pediatrics, what does this mean?
Doctors who specialize in internal medicine and pediatrics are often called med-peds physicians. They specialize in both adults and children. They complete a 4-year residency program alternating between internal medicine and pediatric training. Over the 4 years, 24 months of training are received in each specialty.

Do you have the HPV vaccine?
Yes. The vaccine called Gardasil is available for girls between the ages of 9 and 26. It is given as a series of 3 vaccines, at 0, 2 and 6 months and should be administered before onset of sexual activity, but females who are sexually active should still be vaccinated. The vaccine costs $170 per dose plus an administration fee. As with all vaccines, check with your insurance about coverage. Also, ask about our cash pay discount.This vaccine is reserved for our established patients only.

Do you have the shingles vaccine?
Yes, the shingles vaccine called Zostavax is available upon request. When making your appointment, please let us know your are interested in having the vaccination. The vaccine has been shown to signficantly reduce the risk of developing shingles. It is recommended for those 60 years of age and older. It it indicated for the prevention of shingles, not the treatment of shingles. This vaccine is reserved for our established patients only.
