Diabetes Group Visits

Group Visits are a new way of managing your diabetes that provides you more time with your doctor on a regular basis and teach you how to deal with common health problems related to diabetes.

"The group visit allows patients to have a full discussion and education on the consequences of diabetes in a group setting," explains Dr. Kapil, Diabetic Group Resident Facilitator.  "The patients provide a support system to each other and it gives them the opportunity to share their experiences with others that are diabetic."

In a group of 8-10 other patients with diabetes, you will discuss ways you can maintain or improve your health and make sure you are up-to-date with your recommended care plan. You receive your own healthcare notebook, which will help you track your individual instructions.  Each time you meet, you will learn something new about how to manage your diabetes and have the opportunity to learn from others by sharing your experiences, successes and advice.  If you have additional health concerns not related to diabetes, you will be able to meet with your doctor privately after the group visit.

Group visits have been proven to provide patients with better control of their diabetes and increased satisfaction with their healthcare.  We are excited to be able to offer group visits as part of your care plan.
