Your Care Team

The Women’s Health department at Rush-Copley has an extensive team of professionals committed to providing you extraordinary medicine and excellent care. Besides your physician or midwife and our nurses, there are several other people you will meet to help you during your stay.

A Neonatologist is in the hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These doctors specialize in the care of newborns with special needs. If your baby needs extra care during his/her first days of life, the Neonatologist may be asked to see your baby.

A Lactation Consultant (LC) may stop by your room if you are nursing to offer you support and education. The consultant sees patients every day and is available if you have questions or are having difficulty breastfeeding your baby.  The support of the LC's can continue after you go home through our Outpatient Lactation Center .

A Social Worker (SW) is also available as needed. If you feel you may be having difficulty entering this new phase of your life, please ask your doctor/midwife or nurse to see the social worker.

Clinical Associates (CA's) assist the nurses with you and your baby’s care. They also assist in organizing your discharge home.

Professional Secretaries (CS's) greet families and welcome visitors to the unit.  They are also integral in completing your baby's Birth Certificate information.

Hospital Volunteers may visit you for many special reasons — they deliver flowers, offer you beverages and desserts and on certain days, even a free massage!
