Outpatient Therapy Services

For over a decade, patients and physicians in the Chicagoland area have recognized Rush-Copley's multidisciplinary approach and extraordinary patient care as the provider of choice for Rehabilitation. Historically, our high patient satisfaction scores and treatment outcomes have consistently surpassed customer expectations.
Outpatient Therapy Services offers a continuum of care that promotes the restoration, maintenance and improved functional mobility in all areas of performance ranging from leisure activities to high-level athletic competition to the safe return to work. Physical, occupational and speech therapists tailor treatment methods to patients’ needs and work together to design the most effective and efficient treatment approach. Our therapists continue to maintain professional excellence by regularly attending advanced specialty courses and continuing education seminars. Therapy is provided for patients with orthopedic problems, ranging from post-surgical to chronic injuries, vestibular dysfunctions, neurological disorders including stroke and brain-injury recovery, venous edema, women’s health and athletic injuries.
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Unit also offers evaluation and treatment of balance and dizziness disorders with Computerized Dynamic Posturography. The hospital’s new Neurocom SMART Equitest System® allows physical therapists to evaluate and treat a wide variety of balance and dizziness disorders. The system helps to identify and address impairments of the visual, vestibular and somatosensory components of balance. All test results are then compared to age-matched norms and all progress can be objectively measured. This advanced evaluation and treatment is considered the gold standard for evaluating balance impairments.
To help determine if you have issues with balance ask yourself the following questions:
- Have you experienced a stroke or other neurological problem that has affected your balance?
- Do you experience numbness or loss of sensation in your legs or feet?
- Do you use a walker or wheel chair?
- Do you feel dizzy or unsteady if you make sudden changes in movement such as bending down or quickly turning?
- Do you feel unsteady when you are walking, climbing stairs?
- Do you have difficulty sitting down or standing up from a seated or lying position?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you could be at risk. The best way to determine if you have a problem is to talk with your physician about getting a balance screening test.
The Outpatient Center is housed in the Rush-Copley Healthplex building where therapists have full access to state-of-the-art facilities for patient care, including a health and fitness center and heated therapeutic pool. Our facility accepts all major insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid. As a courtesy to our patients, we work with you and your provider to check for eligibility in advance.
