Respiratory Care

The Respiratory Care Services department provides both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote healthy lung functions. Services at Rush-Copley are available for all ages both in an inpatient and outpatient setting. We offer state-of-the-art resources for identifying, treating and educating patients on lung disease. The Respiratory staff members are dedicated professionals specializing in the knowledge of assessing patient’s overall cardiopulmonary conditions.

- Oximetry Studies(determine need for home Oxygen)

Your Care Team
Pulmonologist
A Pulmonologist is a physician who possesses specialized knowledge and skill in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary (lung) conditions and diseases. All Pulmonoligists at Rush-Copley are board certified in Pulmonary Medicine.
Registered Respiratory Therapist /Certified Respiratory Technicians
Respiratory therapists and respiratory therapy technicians—also known as respiratory care practitioners—evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. All RRTs and CRTs have credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care and are licensed by the State of Illinois.
Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist
The specialist works in collaboration with other team members to provide competent respiratory care in a potentially high stress environment, while meeting the assessed needs of critically ill newborn and pediatric patients. All specialists have credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist
A pulmonary function technologist works under the supervision of a physician to conduct diagnostic evaluations of normal and abnormal pulmonary (lung) conditions by administering a variety of tests on the patient. They have credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
