Clinical Advancement in Practice Synergy

CAPs
At Rush-Copley Medical Center, we promote clinical excellence at the bedside through our Clinical Advancement in Practice Model (CAPs). The four levels of CAPs are:
Level 1: Nurse to Patient
Level 2: Nurse to Nurse
Level 3: Nurse to System
Level 4: Nurse to Universe.
This program is for all full and part-time nurses, who want to have their practice differentiated through experience, education and outcomes of care provided. Your practice comes alive through the story telling that you share from your personal perspective of all that you do. In return, you receive a monetary reward to recognize your brilliance in nursing practice. Bonuses for advancing up the clinical ladder range from $2000 to $4000 every year, in addition to a nurse's annual merit increase.
Philosophy of Nursing/Core Beliefs
- We believe that the patient is the center of our universe and that each nurse is directly accountable and responsible to the consumer for the quality of nursing care delivered.
- We believe that the practice of nursing requires a commitment to continued professional growth throughout orientation, monthly continuing education opportunities and formal education.
- We believe that professional nurses must accept accountability for the quality and intensity of care provided, as well as ethical legal and regulatory responsibility involved in their practice.
- We believe that it is the responsibility of the nursing staff to utilize all of the human and material resources provided in order to deliver the best possible care, in the best possible milieu.
- We believe in a working environment, which is supportive to the professional, emotional, spiritual and social growth of all of its employees.
- We believe in the value of shared decision-making.
