Stroke Care/Ischemic Stroke Patients (TIA) Discharged on Antithrombotics

Percent of stroke or TIA patients discharged on antithrombotic/antiplatelet therapy

Why is this important?  The patient recovering from a mild stroke or TIA is at high risk for stroke recurrence. The majority of ischemic strokes are due to embolism or thrombotic arterial occlusion. Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of preventing secondary stroke with the use of antithrombotics at discharge.
