Accreditations

The care at Rush-Copley has been recognized by many organizations in the healthcare field.  Rush-Copley is proud to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, a national organization assisting healthcare organizations to continuously provide safe, high-quality care, treatment and services.  The medical center participated in a three day survey in the spring of 2005.  As a result of this survey, the Joint Commission granted Rush-Copley an accreditation decision of "Accredited" for all services provided under the hospital standards.

The In Vitro Fertilization Laboratory at Rush-Copley is also accredited by JCAHO, successfully completing the accreditation process in fall 2005.  This accreditation attests to the quality and safety provided in our state-of-the-art program

In addition to JCAHO, Rush-Copley also holds many other specialized credentials from organizations including the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the College of American Pathology, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement of Healthcare Organizations and others.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF) is a private, not-for-profit organization that promotes quality rehabilitation services.  It does this by establishing nationally recognized standards of quality for organizations to use as guidelines in developing and offering their rehabilitation programs or services to consumers.  CARF applies their standards to determine how well an organization is serving its consumers and how it can improve.  CARF accredited programs and services have demonstrated that they substantially meet the standards.  CARF accreditation means that you can be confident that an organization has made a commitment to continually enhance the quality of its services and programs and its focus on consumer satisfaction.  Rush-Copley is proud to have achieved this recognition for its Rehabilitation Program.

Laboratory

The Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) awarded accreditation to the medical laboratory at Rush--Copley Medical Center Laboratory in Aurora, Illinois based on the results of an on-site inspection completed on January 12, 2006.  Rush-Copley Medical Center's laboratory is one of a select group of laboratories that has been evaluated and found to be in compliance with the CAP accreditation standards--rigorous laboratory standards designed to help ensure quality patient care.  The CAP's program is the most respected and recognized laboratory accreditation program in the world and has long been considered the "gold standard" against which others are measured.

Cancer Care Center

Rush-Copley's Cancer Care Program is an approved Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program meeting the standards set by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons.  The voluntary participation in this program demonstrates our commitment to provide quality cancer care to the community and is the highest designation a community cancer center may attain.

Imaging

Imaging has also received recognition for their commitment to quality and safety.  Ultrasound Services are accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) and the Mammography Department meets the requirements and standards for accreditation by the American College of Radiology, the accrediting body for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Food and Drug Administration.  Rush-Copley's certified mammography facility meets the standards set forth in the Mammography Quality Standard Act of 1992.

Emergency Services

Our Emergency Department has received recognition and approval for the care of pediatric patients.  Rush-Copley was reapproved in a November 2005 survey by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP).  Rush-Copley's Emergency Department is also recognized and approved by the State of Illinois as a Level II Trauma Center.
