Defective Bassinets Alert

Updated: September 11, 2008
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office has issued an urgent alert to parents, caregivers and others to immediately stop using Simplicity (manufactured by Simplicity Inc. of Reading, PA) and Graco brand bassinets, which have a dangerous design flaw that has already led to two infant deaths in Kansas and Missouri.

As the result of an extensive investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Office, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has expanded its nationwide recall of all Simplicity or Graco 3-1 or  4-1 convertible close sleepers and bedside sleepers with the dangerous design flaw. The unsafe products have a gap between the mattress and the lower bar – so, an infant can slip through the gap and suffocate.
