Rush-Copley Diabetes Progam Merits ADA Recognition

(January 22, 2008)  Rush-Copley Medical Center was recently awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition Certificate for a quality diabetes self-management education program.   The ADA recognizes that Rush-Copley’s program offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.

“Assuring high-quality care and education for diabetes patients is one of the primary goals of Rush-Copley’s Diabetes Education Center,” said Barry C. Finn, president and CEO of Rush-Copley   “The hospital is pleased to be recognized by the ADA for the service we provide to diabetes patients to help them promote better management of their treatment.”

The Association’s Education Recognition Certificate assures that educational programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs.   The ADA Education Recognition effort, begun in the fall of 1986, is a voluntary process, which assures that approved education programs have met the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Programs.  Programs that achieve Recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management for participants.
