Rush-Copley Awarded Three-Year Accreditation for Rehabilitation Services

(September 21, 2009)  Rush-Copley Medical Center has been accredited for its Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).  Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a medical specialty that involves the process of restoring function for a person who has been disabled as a result of a disease, disorder or injury.

CARF accredits organizations that demonstrate patients benefit from the services provided by participating facilities.  The three-year accreditation, the highest level awarded by CARF, is the outcome of a survey recently conducted at Rush-Copley by the agency.

"We are very proud of this achievement," said Dennis Keane, M.D., medical director of rehabilitation services at Rush-Copley Medical Center.  "The performance of our staff is the reason we have been so successful in continually meeting the highest standards applicable to rehabilitation services."

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of those being served.  Founded in 1966, CARF's accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
