Alexander Pope, CFRE, AFP Receives Chicago's 2013 President's Award
Aurora, IL – Alex Pope, CFRE, Chief Development Officer at Rush-Copley Medical Center, recently received Chicago's 2013 President's Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
A member of AFP since 1991, Alex has been deeply committed to helping fulfill its mission of promoting the development and growth of professional fundraising executives. His career spans nearly 25 years of professional experience in institutional advancement, and he has particular expertise in identifying opportunities for and implementing fundraising best practices.

Alex’s colleagues from many local businesses and other non-profits were unanimous in their support for Alex, and their desire to endorse his nomination for this award. Among the personal qualities they cited were Alex's integrity, relationship-building skills, genuine concern for others, dependability, and willingness to work hard and always make himself available to AFP Chicago members, directors and staff. He is widely admired for his ability to range in scope from broad visions to tiny details, and to renew himself and others through story, humor and perspective.
Before joining Rush-Copley, Alex served as executive development officer, operations, at Advocate Charitable Foundation, the fundraising arm of Advocate Health Care. Alex has also worked at the national level for associations and organizations including the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Earthwatch Institute, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
He is an accomplished educator and speaker on fundraising and volunteer leadership. Alex is a graduate of Northern Illinois University. He resides in Naperville with his wife and four children.
